i'm moe p. wellington, a 31-year-old artist from germany. i've been working with AI since 2022.
my recent work explores the paradox between UI and AI: interfaces are systems designed to be read and understood by humans, while AI models reconstruct their visual language without understanding the logic, intention, or conventions those interfaces were built to communicate.
what emerges is a kind of false memory of software. worlds that appear functional and navigable, but refuse to fully explain themselves. this recalls the sensation of encountering videogames as a child, before their symbols had settled into meaning: when something could feel familiar and operational long before i understood how to read it.
AI allows me to return to that same condition: a system that seems to work, but begins to fall apart the closer you look. information before literacy. systems before understanding.
